Communities

Leave a community, or pass one on

Short answer

To leave, open the community, tap the menu and choose Leave community. Places you already hold at its events are not affected. If you own the community, you pass it on to another member first, or archive it to close it.

Leave a community

  1. Open the community from the Communities tab.
  2. Tap the menu (the three dots at the top).
  3. Tap Leave community, then leave.

What it takes to come back depends on the community:

  • If anyone can join, you can join again later.
  • If people ask to join, you would ask again and a moderator would decide.
  • If it is invite only, you would need a new invitation.

If you help run the community as a moderator or admin, you may be asked to confirm it is you before you leave.

If you own the community

An owner cannot leave a community with nobody in charge. To stop being the owner, pass it on. If you want the community to stop instead, archive it.

Pass it on

  1. Open the community, tap the menu, then Pass it on.
  2. Pick a member and tap send the offer.
  3. Nothing changes until they accept. Until then you can tap take it back.

When they accept, they become the owner and you stay on as an admin. You can then leave like any other member.

Archive it

  1. Open the community, tap the menu, then Archive community.
  2. Optionally say why, then tap archive.

Nobody new can find or join an archived community. Its members, events and history are kept, you remain its owner, and you can bring it back with open it again.

If someone offers you a community

The offer appears on your Communities tab. Open the community to look at it, then tap accept or decline. If you accept, you become the owner and the previous owner stays on as an admin.

Common problems

  • The leave sheet says "you run this one." You are the owner. Pass the community on, then leave.
  • "There is nobody else here yet." A community needs another member before you can pass it on. You can archive it to close it instead.
