Short answer
Each community is run by its owner, with admins and moderators they choose. Community moderators can warn, remove or ban members inside that community only. Nothing they do affects anyone's nCommunity account. nCommunity's own rules apply everywhere, and anything that breaks them can be reported to us.
Who runs a community
- owner: the person responsible for the community. Only the owner can give people roles, change who can join, pass the community on, or archive it.
- admin and moderator: help run it. Moderators and above can answer join requests, post announcements and act on members. Admins and the owner can also change the community's photo.
- member: everyone else.
Nobody can act on someone at their own level or above, so a moderator cannot remove an admin or the owner.
What moderators can do
Moderators open the members tab and tap Manage next to a person. They can:
- warn: recorded in the community's own record. Nothing else changes.
- remove from community: the person is no longer a member and can join again under the community's usual rules.
- ban from community: the person is removed and cannot rejoin. They see "you were removed." if they open the community.
The owner can also make someone an admin or a moderator from the same place.
These actions apply inside that community only. They do not restrict anyone's account, their RSVPs elsewhere, or their messages.
The rules everywhere
nCommunity's own rules apply in every community. To read them, open You, then Safety Center, then Community standards.
Report a community
If a community itself is the problem, for example it is misleading, unsafe or hateful:
- Open the community and tap the menu (the three dots).
- Tap Report community.
- Pick what is wrong, add details if you want to, and tap send report.
A person at nCommunity reads it. Nothing happens to the community automatically, and nobody in it is told you reported it.
To report one member rather than the whole community, open their profile and use Report or block. See report a person or behavior.
If you think a moderator got it wrong
A community's decisions belong to that community. If a moderator's behaviour breaks nCommunity's rules, report the moderator from their profile, or contact us.
