Short answer
When you arrive, open your pass and show it at the door. Door staff scan it, or read the code aloud. If the host is showing a code on their screen instead, type that code into the app.
Open your pass
- Tap You.
- Under next up, tap your pass. When check-in is open, the plan says check-in open and the button reads show my pass.
- You can also open the event, tap Before you go, and tap Show my pass.
Your pass opens at any time. Before check-in opens it shows when your code will appear, for example "Your code appears at 6:00 PM".
Get checked in
There are two ways, and the host chooses which one they use.
The door scans you
- Open Your pass.
- Hold your screen up so door staff can scan the code. If their camera cannot read it, read the code out loud and they can type it.
You type the host's code
- Open the event and tap Before you go.
- Under Checking in, tap Or enter the code on screen.
- Type the code the host is showing and tap I'm here.
Either way, check-in is recorded straight away. Checking in twice does no harm.
Why a screenshot will not work
The code on your pass changes every 30 seconds, and a countdown under it shows when the next one arrives. A screenshot stops working within a minute. Always show the live pass.
The iPhone lock screen can show your evening, but it never shows your check-in code. Use its button to open the pass in the app.
If you have guests
Your pass shows how many places it covers (for example "2x"). Your guests come in with you.
What happens next
Once you are checked in, the event counts as attended. That is what lets you review the event afterwards.
