Short answer
An activation is a question, not an event: you ask people nearby what they would come to and where, and read the answers as counts. An offer is something extra for people at an event, and only somebody a door actually checked in can redeem it, so every redemption is a real visit.
Ask a question with an activation
- In Studio, open Activations and choose Start an activation (or Ask your first question).
- Write Your question, in a line, then add a few words In your own words.
- Add Areas to choose from and What they could come to. You need at least one of each.
- Set Stop taking answers on. Answers expire because what somebody wanted months ago is not a statement about today.
- Choose Create activation. It is saved as a draft.
- When you are ready, choose Open it. Studio then shows the link to share. Always copy the link from Studio rather than typing an address yourself.
Nothing is booked. People who open the link choose an area and what they would come to, enter their email, and confirm with a code we email them. They are told the activation is not a ticket and does not hold them a place.
Read the answers
Choose What they said on the activation to see the answers as counts by area and format. You never see who answered or where they live. To close it, choose Stop taking answers. This does not cancel any event.
Offers at your venue
- Open Attendee offers and choose Make one.
- Under What you are offering, say exactly what people get and what it applies to. People read it as you write it.
- Optionally, set Most times it can be taken.
- Choose Start the offer.
The offer is shown to people coming to events at your venue. To end it, choose Stop it. Nobody can take it after that.
Offers at other people's events (businesses)
- Open Events near you and find the event.
- Choose Offer something, fill in What you're offering and, optionally, How many.
- Choose Ask the host.
This is a request. Nothing appears on the event until the host accepts it in the app, under Offers from businesses. Their answer appears on Events near you.
Redeem an offer
- The guest opens the nCommunity app, finds the offer under what turning up earned you in their plans, and taps Show your code.
- In Studio, open Redeem (businesses) or Attendee offers (venues), and type Their code.
- Studio tells you what to hand over. Each code works once.
If Studio says This code was already used, do not hand the offer over again. A code only exists for somebody who was checked in, so a code passed around is no use to anybody who was not there.
Common problems
- "That code did not work." Check the characters with the guest. The code only works for somebody checked in at the event.
- No share link on an activation. The link appears once the activation is open, not while it is a draft.
- "Complete the three required fields below." Add a question, at least one area and at least one format.
