Short answer
On the night, open You, then Your doors, pick the event and tap Scan people in. From there you can scan passes, type a pass code, find someone on the list and check them in by hand. As the host you can also show a code that guests enter themselves.
Open the door
- Open the You tab. Under asking for you, tap Your doors. It lists events you host or have been put on the door for.
- On the event, tap Scan people in. The list opens, titled At the door, with a count of how many are in.
Before the event starts, you can also reach the door from the event's page under the night itself, by tapping The door.
Check people in
- Scan a pass. Tap Scan and point the camera at the guest's pass. Pass codes change every 30 seconds, so scan the one on their screen now.
- Type their code. In the scanner, tap Type the code instead, enter the eight characters on their pass, and tap Check them in.
- Check someone in by hand. Use Find someone to search by name or @handle, tap Check in beside them and give a reason (for example, their phone died). This is recorded as your word rather than a scan, with your name on it.
- Show the event code (host only). On Your doors, tap Show the event code instead, then Open check-in. Guests enter the code shown in their own app. The code changes on its own. Tap Stop check-in when you are done. Nobody can check in this way while check-in is closed.
The event code screen shows how many are in, how many were scanned and how many were vouched for by hand. Scanning is what keeps your attendance numbers standing up; if a door looks unusual, it is reviewed.
Somebody with no place
At a free event, you can let in somebody who did not RSVP:
- On the event's page, under the night itself, tap Somebody with no place.
- Search for them by name or handle.
- Tap let in.
The app still checks the age limit and whether the event is full. At a paid event this is refused: they have to buy a ticket in the app like everybody else.
Remove someone or put them back (host only)
On At the door, tap the options button beside a person and choose Remove, with a reason. They lose their place and it goes to the waitlist. People you removed are listed below the guest list, where you can tap Put them back.
Offers from businesses
If a business has an accepted offer at your event, a Give button appears beside checked-in guests. Tap it when you hand the offer over.
On your lock screen
On an iPhone that supports Live Activities, a lock screen activity shows how many people are in and how many are still coming while check-in is open. It shows counts, never names. You can switch Live Activities off in the app's notification settings, under on your lock screen.
Common problems
- "Your doors" is not on the You tab. It appears only when you host or staff a published event that is coming up soon or started within the last day.
- The camera does not start. Tap Type the code instead; it works without the camera. To allow the camera, tap Open Settings.
- "Already in". That guest was checked in earlier.
- "No connection". Nothing was checked. Try again in a moment.
- "The event is full." Letting a walk-up in would go past the number of places you set.
- "the list didn't load." This is not an empty guest list. Check your connection and pull down to try again.
