Connections and messaging

Disconnect, block, hide or report

Short answer

Disconnecting, blocking, hiding and reporting do different things. Disconnect ends a connection. Block stops all contact with a person in both directions. Hide ("Show me less of this") only changes what you are shown. Report sends something to a person at nCommunity to review. None of them tells the other person.

Disconnect from someone

Use this when you no longer want to message someone, but nothing is wrong.

  1. In a conversation, tap More (the three dots) and then Disconnect. Or open You, tap messages, tap Everyone you have met, and tap the disconnect button next to their name.
  2. Confirm with Disconnect.

The conversation closes and they are not told. If you both say yes to each other at another event later, you can connect again.

Block someone

Use this when you want no contact with a person at all.

  1. Open their profile and tap Report or block (the three dots). In a conversation, tap More instead.
  2. Tap Block, then Block again to confirm.

They are not told. After a block, neither of you can message the other, you cannot see each other's profiles, and you are left off each other's attendee lists. They also cannot connect with you after an event.

To see or undo a block: You, then Settings, then Blocked and hidden, then Blocked accounts. Tap unblock and confirm. They are not told that you unblocked them either.

Hide a host, venue or event

Use this when nobody has done anything wrong and you would just rather not see something.

  1. Open the event and tap More (the three dots on the photo).
  2. Tap Show me less of this.
  3. Choose This event, the host, or the venue.

What you hide stays out of Discover and search. It is not a report: nobody is told, no moderator sees it, and nothing goes on anybody's record. It never removes an event you already have a place at or have saved.

To undo it: You, then Settings, then Blocked and hidden, then Hidden from discovery.

Report something

Use this when something breaks the rules or makes you feel unsafe. A person reads every report, and nothing happens to anybody automatically because you sent one.

You can report and block the same person. Reporting does not block them, and blocking does not report them.
