Who can see your attendance and your profile

Short answer

You choose who can see that you are going to events. Only people who are also going to an event can ever see its attendee list, and the host always sees you at the door whatever you choose. Your profile never shows your date of birth, your location or your plans.

Choose who sees that you are going

  1. Open You, then Settings, then Privacy. (You can also get there from Safety Center, then Attendee visibility.)
  2. Under who sees that you are going, tap one of the three options below.
  • other people going: people who have also said yes can see you are coming.
  • other people going, once I am there: nobody sees you until the door checks you in.
  • only the host: no other attendee sees you, before or after. The host needs to see you to run the door.

The setting applies to every event and saves as soon as you tap. Whatever you choose, you still get in: check-in reads your pass, not a guest list.

Who can see an attendee list

  • Only people who hold a place at the event (going, or already checked in) can see who else is going.
  • People you have blocked, and people who blocked you, never see you on a list, and you never see them.
  • If none of the options is selected, your setting was chosen in a newer version of the app. It is still in force. Update the app to see it, or pick an option to replace it.

What other members see on your profile

To check, open You, then Your profile. It shows your profile exactly as another member sees it. Tap Edit to change your photo, name, handle or bio.

Other members can see:

  • your name, handle, photo and bio, and the month you joined
  • if you host: your rating, number of reviews, events hosted and when you started hosting
  • interests you have set to be shown on your profile, and any of those you share with them
  • if you are connected, how you know each other

Your profile never shows your date of birth, your location, or what you are going to. Interests in sensitive categories are left out of the interests your profile shows, whatever their setting says. Nobody sees a follower count, because there is none.

Control which interests are shown

Open You, then Settings, then About you. Each interest has its own setting:

  • anyone: shown on your profile
  • just for matching: used to find you things, never shown
  • private: not used and not shown

Common problems

  • Someone I blocked can still see me. They cannot open your profile or see you on attendee lists. If you are worried about something they did, report it.
  • I chose "only the host" and I am worried about getting in. You still get in. The door checks your pass.
