Short answer
If a host cancels an event, everyone with a place is told, and anyone who paid gets all of it back without asking. If a host changes something that affects your plans, such as the time or the place, we email you what changed.
If the event is cancelled
- We email everyone who had a place. The subject says the event has been called off.
- If you paid, the whole payment, including the service fee, is refunded. You do not need to request it. This applies whatever the event's refund terms said.
- When the refund is sent, you get a second email confirming it.
- In the app, the event page says This event was cancelled. and your plan says The host cancelled this event.
- A cancelled event never counts against your attendance record.
If the event changes
Hosts can edit an event after it is published. These changes are treated as changes to your plans, and everyone going or on the waitlist is emailed:
- the start or finish time
- the place
- the price
- the age limit going up
- the number of places going down
The email says what changed and when the event now is. Edits to the title, description or photo do not send an email.
On the event page, the What we can tell you section says how many times the event has changed since it was published.
If a change no longer works for you
You still have your place, and you do not need to do anything to keep it. If you cannot make the new plan, cancel from the event page. See Cancel your RSVP.
On a paid event, cancelling after an ordinary change follows the event's refund terms, and the confirmation message tells you what comes back before you confirm.
Private residence events
If the host of a private residence event changes the location, the event page shows a Location changed card. It offers a full refund of what remains of your ticket and fee, until the deadline shown on the card.
- Open the event.
- Tap Cancel & refund on the Location changed card.
- Read the summary and tap Cancel & refund again, or Keep ticket.
The refund goes back to whoever paid, even if the ticket was passed to you. Your place and access to the address end. If you want to keep your ticket, you do not need to do anything.
Common problems
- You did not get an email. Check your spam folder and which address your account uses: on the You tab, tap Settings, then Account. The event page always shows the current details.
- The change makes the event impossible for you and the refund terms return nothing. Contact support with the event name and what changed.
