Finding and attending events

Age limits, accessibility and other event requirements

Short answer

Everything an event asks of you is on its page: the age limit on the photograph, access details under Accessibility, and what we know about the host and venue in the Safety Card. Check them before you tap I'm in or Get tickets.

Age limits

  • An event with an age limit shows it on its photograph, for example 21+, and again in the Safety Card as "21+ event".
  • The limit is checked against the date of birth on your account when you RSVP or buy a place.
  • If you do not meet it, the event page says so and you cannot book.

You cannot change your date of birth yourself. If it is wrong, contact us. See Age rules and event eligibility.

Accessibility

  1. Open the event and scroll to Accessibility. It lists what the host says the event offers, such as step-free access or seating.
  2. If the event is at a venue, tap the venue's name to open its page. getting in shows what the venue has told us about access.
  3. To see only events that meet your needs, open Search, tap Filters, and choose under Access. Events must meet every one you choose.

Access information comes from the host and the venue. If something is missing, ask the host before you go. If an event or venue was not as described, you can report it.

To save your own access needs, tap You, then Settings, then About you.

The Safety Card

Every event page has a box headed What we can tell you. It shows whether the host's identity and the venue have been verified, how many events the host has completed, their rating from people who were verifiably there, any age limit, and whether the event has changed since it was published.

These are things we checked, not promises about how the event will go.

Languages

If you add the languages you speak (You, then Settings, then About you), the my languages chip on Discover shows events whose host said they will run in one of them. An event with no language listed makes no claim either way.

Events that need the host's approval

Some events show Ask to join instead of a join button.

  1. Tap Request to attend.
  2. The page shows Awaiting host approval. You do not have a place yet.
  3. If the host approves, you can then join or buy a place as usual. If not, the page says Request declined.

You can tap Withdraw request while you wait. Each guest needs their own approval and place.

Events at a private residence

An event at someone's home is marked Private residence, Unlisted and Approval required. It does not appear in Discover or Search, so you can only reach it through a link. Before you are approved you see only a broad area. After approval, View address shows the exact location.

The host confirmed the details about their home. We have not independently verified them, and there is no safety guarantee. If your approval is removed, the page says Admission removed; do not attend.

Common problems

  • Your date of birth is wrong. Contact us.
  • You need something the page does not mention. Ask the host, or check the venue page.
