Short answer
If an event is full, tap Join the waitlist on its page. When a place opens, it goes to the person who has been waiting longest and whose group fits. Nobody, including the host, can move you up or down the line.
Join a waitlist
- Open the event. If it is full, the button reads Join the waitlist.
- Choose whether you are bringing anyone.
- Tap Join the waitlist.
You see you're on the list. Nothing is held for you yet.
If only a few places are left and your group is bigger than that, you join the waitlist together rather than being split up.
Check your place in line
Tap You, then Your plans. A waitlist plan says "You're number 3 on the waitlist." (with your own number).
When a place opens on a free event
- Places go out in the order people joined.
- If the next group in line is too big for the places that opened, the place goes to the next group that fits. Your turn is kept.
- When you get a place, your plan changes to "You're going." and a pass appears. You do not need to confirm it, so if you no longer want the place, cancel it so it can go to the next person.
A waitlist place has no pass and cannot be added to your calendar, because it is not a confirmed place.
Waitlists on paid events
Some hosts let their paid events keep a waitlist that charges your card when a place opens. If the host has not turned this on, the app tells you when you try to join.
To join one:
- Tap Join the waitlist on the event.
- Choose a card saved for this. A card you saved at checkout does not count; tap save a card if you need one.
- Read the sentence describing the charge, then tap I understand, and I agree.
- Tap join the waitlist.
What to expect:
- When a place opens and it is your turn, your saved card is charged the price you agreed to, and the place becomes yours.
- If the host has changed the price since you joined, you are not charged the new price. You keep your place in line.
- If your card is declined, it is not tried again. You keep your place in line. To be charged when a place opens, join again with a working card.
- You can leave any time before a place opens, and nothing is charged.
Leave a waitlist
- Open the event.
- Tap Leave the waitlist, then Leave.
Common problems
- You are high on the list but someone joined later and got in. Their group fit the place that opened and yours did not. Your turn is still kept.
- The app says the card was not saved for this. Save the card again from the waitlist sheet and agree to the charge.
- The event has started. You cannot join a waitlist once an event is under way.
