Earnings and billing

What nCommunity charges hosts and venues

Short answer

Hosting a free event costs nothing. On a paid event you keep the ticket price you set, and your guest pays a service fee on top. Venues see any booking fee on a request before they accept it. We do not quote percentages here because the screens show the actual amounts at the moment they apply.

  • You keep the ticket price you set. The service fee is not taken out of it.
  • Your guest pays the service fee. It is added on top of your price and shown on its own line before they pay. The event page shows the total on the Get tickets button, with the admission and the service fee spelled out underneath.
  • Your earnings show the ticket price only. The service fee never appears in your balance, because it was never yours.

To read this in the app, open Paid events and tap the How payouts work button (the information icon at the top). See Set up payouts for how to reach that screen.

In Studio, the same explanation is under Earnings, in What does nCommunity take?

Free events

There is no fee on a free event, for you or your guests.

Venue bookings

If you run a venue in Studio:

  • Booking fees are shown on each request before you answer it. The Booking fees tab under Earnings lists every fee and its state.
  • A fee is only owed once the booking has actually happened. Nothing is owed for a booking that is cancelled. That shows as Waived.
  • Nothing is charged automatically, because we have no card on file for you. It is a balance, and we will be in touch about paying it.
  • If a host pays you through nCommunity, the amount comes from your accepted terms. The platform fee and the actual card processing cost come off your share before it is paid to you. The Earnings tab explains this under What comes off, and what happens after a refund?

A sponsored spot shows its price before you pay, and a person reviews it before anybody pays. If you ran promotions in the past and still owe for them, your earnings screen lists that under Promotion you have run.

Where to see what you were charged

  • Hosts in the app: open Balance at the top of the You tab. See Payout status and holds.
  • Studio: Earnings, or Billing for business and brand desks.
