Short answer
Tap Create, choose the free or paid card, and work through the steps. Everything is saved as you go. When the last screen says ready to go., tap publish and your event can be found, saved and said yes to.
Steps
- Open the Create tab and tap the free event. card, or the paid event. card if you sell tickets.
- what is it? Give the event a name and say what happens. Tap add a photo on the preview card to add the cover picture. You can also add a short clip.
- what is it about? Pick the interests that describe it, so people who follow those interests can find it. You can also say which language it runs in.
- where and when. Pick a venue, a start time and, if you want, an end time. If the venue is not listed, tap add the place yourself to put a pin on the map. Say what kind of place it is under being allowed to be there.
- who is it for? Set how many people fit (a set number or no limit), whether to Keep a waitlist, how many guests one person may bring, and what it costs to get in (free or ticketed).
- getting in the door. Set the age limit, the access information, the Safety Card and anything people should bring.
- if plans change. Say how late people can cancel without it counting against them, how much notice you will give, and for a paid event, what comes back if someone cancels.
- On the review screen, check the list. Anything under still needed has to be done first. Use the back button to return to the step that needs it; nothing you have written is lost.
- Tap publish. The first time, you are asked to agree to the host agreement.
The top of each screen shows which step you are on.
Photo rules
- Every event needs at least one photograph before it can be published. A video clip does not count as the cover.
- A photo must be at least 1080 pixels on its short side. If the app says a photo is too small, pick the original rather than one saved from a message.
- An event can hold up to ten photos and videos, and one clip.
What the review screen checks
These are the items the review screen lists. Publishing is refused until each one is done:
- A name people will recognise
- What it is about
- What actually happens
- A photograph
- Somewhere to turn up to
- Being allowed to be there
- A start in the future
- How many people fit
- What it costs to get in
- Somewhere for the money to go (paid events: your payouts must be set up; the item offers Set up payouts)
- What happens if it is called off
- What comes back if someone cancels (paid events)
- Who can get in the door
- The Safety Card
For a paid event, the review screen also shows, under if it fills, what a full event would come to at the price you set and what you would keep.
After you publish
Your event appears under yours on the Create tab with a status: draft, ready to publish, live, cancelled or done. When an event needs you, the status is replaced by the reason, for example starting soon, nobody coming, full, with people waiting, more people are coming than now fit, you changed something people agreed to or nobody was checked in.
Tap a published event to manage it.
Delete a draft
- On the Create tab, tap the options button on the draft's row, or swipe the row to the left.
- Tap Delete draft.
- You have a moment to tap Undo before the draft is removed.
A published event cannot be deleted. To stop it, call it off instead. See cancel an event as a host.
Creating an event in Studio
Creators can also build and publish events in Studio at https://studio.ncommunity.app with Create an event. An event placed with a map pin instead of a venue also needs the neighborhood it is in, because that is what event cards show beside the distance.
Common problems
- "Something is still missing. The list has been refreshed." An item became incomplete. Check still needed again.
- "that didn't save." Your last change on that step was not saved. Check your connection and tap continue again. Nothing you wrote earlier is lost.
- "we can't open this draft." Tap Try again. The draft itself is saved.
- A paid event cannot be published. Set up payouts and choose what comes back if someone cancels.
