Short answer
Open your event and tap call it off, write why, and confirm. Everyone holding a place is told, with your reason, and anybody who paid gets all of their money back, whatever your refund window says. This cannot be undone.
Steps
- Open the Create tab.
- Find the event under yours and tap its options button, then Call it off. You can also swipe the row to the left, or open the event and tap call it off at the bottom.
- The Call it off screen says how many people are planning to be there and what will happen.
- Under why?, write your reason. The people coming read it word for word.
- Tap call it off to confirm, or keep it on to go back.
When it is done, the screen says it's called off.
What happens next
- Everyone with a place is told, with your reason.
- Anybody who paid is refunded in full. Your refund window does not apply when you are the one calling it off.
- The event stops showing up anywhere.
- The cancellation is applied on our side after you confirm, and the notices go out from there.
If nobody had a place yet, calling it off simply takes the event down.
Things to know
- Only the host can call an event off. Co-hosts cannot.
- You cannot undo it. If plans change back, put it on again as a new event.
- A draft that was never published is deleted, not called off. See create and publish an event.
- If only the time or place is changing, you may not need to cancel. Changing it tells everyone automatically. See edit a live event.
Common problems
- "Say why. The people coming will read this." Add a reason before confirming.
- "that didn't go through. Try again." The event was not called off. Try again when you have a connection. Trying again does not start a second cancellation.
- You have a question about refunds for this event. Use the contact link below and choose payment.
