Short answer
Every event needs a real place, a clear statement of whether you are allowed to hold it there, an age limit, access information and a Safety Card. Hosting at a home has extra rules: the event is unlisted, every guest needs your approval, and the address is shown only to guests you approve.
Where it is
On the where and when. step, tap where and pick a venue from the list. If the place is not listed, tap add the place yourself, name it, give the address and tap the map where the door is. This puts a pin on the map for your event only. It does not list the place, take bookings for it, or make it yours.
Being allowed to be there
Tap being allowed to be there and choose what kind of place it is:
- a venue I arranged: a room, a studio, a shop, a gym. You confirm the venue has agreed.
- a public space: a park, a plaza, a beach. You confirm you have checked what your local authority requires.
- an informal spot: a bench, a corner, a spot by the water. You confirm you understand this may need permission where you are.
Read what you are agreeing to and tap that is right. An event cannot be published until this is done. nCommunity records your confirmation; it does not check permits for you.
Age, access and safety
On the getting in the door. step:
- how old: everyone on nCommunity is 18 or over. Choose 21 and over only when the event genuinely needs it. The door enforces the limit.
- access: tick only what is actually true. People plan their journey around it.
- the Safety Card: what somebody should know before deciding to come.
- what to bring: one item per line, or leave it empty.
Access and the Safety Card must both be reviewed before you can publish, even if there is nothing to note.
Who can find it and who gets in
From an event's page, Venue privacy and admission lets you set:
- Visibility: Publicly discoverable or Unlisted.
- Admission: Open registration or Host approval.
With host approval, requests appear under Attendance requests, where you can Approve or Decline each one, or Remove guest later.
Hosting at a home
Keep street addresses, unit numbers, entry instructions and revealing photos out of the event's name, description and media. Removing photo metadata cannot hide what is visible in a picture.
To host at a home, tap Venue type, privacy, and host approval on the where and when. step (or Venue privacy and admission later) and set Venue type to Private residence. Then:
- The event is unlisted and every guest needs your approval.
- Before approval, people see only the broad area you enter under City or neighborhood. Never enter a street address there.
- The street address, unit and entry instructions unlock only for guests you approve who hold a place.
- There are no anonymous plus-ones. Each guest needs their own account and your approval.
- Home events are free only. Paid tickets are not available for homes.
- You choose an on-site organizer and confirm I have permission to host here.
- Tap Save settings.
Your confirmation is not a property check, a background check or a safety guarantee. Removing someone's access cannot erase information they already saw. nCommunity does not provide live monitoring or emergency response. In immediate danger, call your local emergency number (911 in the US).
Common problems
- "an nCommunity partner venue" cannot be chosen. It is not available yet.
- Your home event settings did not save. The app says to check your host contact, capacity and existing bookings. Paid home events cannot be saved.
