Short answer
Any member can host. There is no application and no separate host account: the first time you start an event from the Create tab, your account becomes a host account.
Start hosting from the app
- Open the Create tab (the middle tab at the bottom of the app).
- Choose the free event. card to start an event nobody pays for, or the paid event. card to sell tickets.
- Fill in the steps. Your draft is saved as you go, so you can stop and come back to it later from the list under yours on the same tab.
Before your first event goes live, the app asks you to agree to the host agreement. You only publish once you have agreed.
If you want to sell tickets
The paid event. card shows Locked until payouts are set up. While it is locked, tapping it opens Paid events, where you set up where ticket money goes. Once payouts are on, the card starts a ticketed event, and a Paid events row under it lets you check or change your payout details. See set up payouts for the details.
Hosting from Studio
Creators can also run events from nCommunity Studio on the web at https://studio.ncommunity.app. Studio is optional and uses its own sign-in, separate from the app.
- People coming to an event see the person hosting it, so an event made in Studio still needs your member profile. Studio asks you to finish that setup in the app with the same email, then come back.
- Events you host appear in Studio whether you made them there or in the app.
- Some tools, such as check-in, run in the app only.
Common problems
- "we couldn't start that." The draft was not created. Check your connection and tap the card again.
- The paid card still says Locked after setting up payouts. Pull down on the Create tab to refresh it. If it stays locked, your payout setup may still need information; open Paid events to see what is left.
- You want a Host Pro subscription. Host Pro is not on sale at the moment, so there is nothing to buy. Until it is, the host tools on the Create tab are open to every host.
